This year we have chosen artists from an open submission. Artists have been selected on their response to current debates raised by land use, foraging and food production specific to Romney Marsh, either present day or historic. Our title, taken from Doctor Syn by Russell Thorndike CHAPTER III, has helped us to bring together an amazing range of exciting new works from film makers, foragers through to makers and illustrators.

We have selected this year’s participants based on their response to the artist brief. We have chosen proposals with evidence of research and first hand knowledge of Denge & Walland marshes. We work to support artists to develop their practice alongside taking a sensitive approach to exhibiting in a non-gallery, heritage space.

We would like to express our appreciation for the continued support from Revd Julie Coleman, Revd Sarah Williams and Revd Shuna Body. We are also very grateful for the expert advice and access to information given by the churchwardens who play an essential role in maintaining and protecting these magnificent sacred church spaces.

UPDATE: Please note there is a wedding at St Mary in the Marsh on 1st October and the exhibition will be closed for the day – our apologies
