Aardvark’s playful text and performance piece has been informed by the space and its current congregation. It references John Bunyan’s Hymn; To Be A Pilgrim and is consistent with their intelligent and witty approach to art making.
The work they present is faithful to Bunyan’s rich, lyrical imagery but also encourages an audience to reconsider its non-conformist take on hymn writing. The words have been printed in wood and metal type as broadsides and placed in the church for visitors to read and take away.
